Enhancing Phase Change Materials

The thermal conductivity of phase change materials (PCMs) is an important characteristic of the material as high heat transfer rates are highly desirable.  Learn more about research recently conducted at Soongsil University's School of Architecture in South Korea using the TCi Thermal Conductivity Analyzer, technology developed by C-Therm Technologies.  Researchers confirmed that preloading phase change materials (PCMs) with exfoliated graphic nanoplatelets (xGnPs) linearly increases the PCMs’ thermal conductivity.  These composite materials can be utilized to increase the heat transfer efficiency of systems such as radiant in-floor heating, making a significant difference in how we heat the homes of tomorrow.
