How to Measure Thermal Conductivity: Applications & Method Overview

Presented by Arya Hakimian

Trident Thermal Conductivity Instrument

Thermal conductivity plays a role in every industry; from textiles, to automotive, to explosives, it is a critical material property that has significant implications from both a performance and safety prospective. Furthermore, understanding thermal conductivity under conditions representative of the end use application is imperative to gaining a proper understanding of material performance.

Because of this, no one method can properly test all possible material types/conditions of interest. Solids vs liquids, room temperature vs non-ambient, all carry specific considerations to ensure valid, accurate results. To accommodate the wide range of testing requirements faced by today’s advanced material researchers, the Trident Thermal Conductivity Instrument employs three of the most prominent transient methods for thermal conductivity measurement.

This webinar will be an educational session designed to serve as an introduction to the capabilities of the three methods offered by Trident: The Modified Transient Plane Source (MTPS), Transient Plane Source (TPS), and the Transient Line Source (TLS). Learn about the various industries and related applications where these methods are commonly employed, the unique advantages each has to offer and discover which methods are best suited to your testing needs.

This webinar aired on June 29, 2023 @ 2:00PM GMT-3.
