C-Therm Announces Launch of Rigaku’s DSCvesta2 at the North American Battery Show

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 9, 2024

FREDERICTON, New Brunswick, Canada — C-Therm Technologies, a global leader in materials characterization services, is proud to announce the launch of Rigaku’s DSCvesta2, the latest advancement in Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) technology. The launch took place at the Battery Show in Detroit, Michigan – the largest and most comprehensive advanced battery event in North America. C-Therm is the exclusive distributor of Rigaku’s line of thermal analysis instrumentation in North America and is proud to showcase the advancements of the product line.

Self-Diagnostic Functionality

The DSCvesta2 is equipped with an industry-first self-diagnostic function called “vestaeye” that can detect and address potential issues early, even those that were previously undetectable without measurements. The apparatus also boasts improved sensor reproducibility and a position-shift prevention mechanism to guarantee accurate measurements.

Expanded Measurement Ranges

Another standout improvement is the expanded measurement range. The DSCvesta2 can now accommodate samples with larger changes in calorific value with the full-scale range being increased from ±400 mW to ±1000 mW. The temperature range has also been broadened, allowing measurements from -180 °C to 725 °C. With the added refrigerated cooling unit, you can perform continuous heating and cooling measurements from -95°C to 725°C without the need for liquid nitrogen replenishment.

Compatibility with Automatic Sample Changer

Connecting the automatic sample changer (ASC) enables continuous measurement of up to 52 samples and allows for 1000 consecutive measurements. This feature is particularly beneficial for high-volume or unmanned testing over extended periods.

Revolutionary Sample Observation Feature

The DSCvesta2 with visual sample observation capability allows real-time observation and recording of sample changes from room temperature up to 725°C by using a built-in microscope unit. Connecting optional cooling units enables measurements from -70°C to facilitate image capture in temperature ranges below 0°C. This setup enables observation of changes in sample shape, color, and fluidity, aspects that are often challenging to measure with DSC alone.
