Theory and Applications of Very High Frequency Measurements of Viscoelastic Properties

Most conventional Dynamic Mechanical Analyzers (DMAs) are limited to low frequency which makes it necessary to extrapolate the data to obtain high frequency properties. Metravib’s Very High Frequency Analyzer, VHF104, is an innovative DMA that applies a direct experimental method to measure the material viscoelastic properties over a very high frequency range from 100Hz up to 10kHz.

A typical frequency sweep with VHF104 requires only a few minutes, while the test with a conventional DMA requires applying a low frequency sweep over numerous temperature stages during several hours, with further WLF calculations being necessary. VHF104 allows the user to optimize laboratory productivity by fulfilling industrial requirements for the rapid analysis of large quantities of materials.

Dr. Vincent St-Onge received his Bachelors of Science in Chemistry, Masters of Science in Materials Chemistry, and Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry all from the University of Sherbrooke. He is currently a Materials Characterization Research Coordinator at the University of Sherbrooke and a Lecturer in chemistry focusing on subjects such as polymers, characterization, and electrochemistry. With his extensive experience in DMA and measuring viscoelastic properties, he is an expert in the field of materials characterization.

Join us to hear the theory and applications of Metravib’s VHF104 from Dr. St-Onge. This session is suitable for industry professional, engineers, and product manufacturers interested in conducting high frequency testing, as well as for those who are just interested in learning about this novel equipment.

This webinar will air on April 3, 2025 @ 2:00PM GMT-3.
