TIM Tester Application Highlight: Apparent Through-Plane Thermal Conductivity of Pyrolytic and Expanded Graphite Sheets Under Applied Compression
This document highlights the use of the ZFW TIM Tester to characterize the apparent through-plane thermal conductivity of pyrolytic and expanded graphite sheets under applied compression from 0.1 to 200 psi, including the effect of an adhesive layer.

Measurements were performed on the ZFW TIM Tester in accordance with ASTM D5470. The instrument applies a steady heat flux through the sample held between two instrumented reference bars, measures the temperature drop across the stack, and outputs thermal impedance and apparent thermal conductivity.
