Geothermal Exploration Through Deep Exploratory Slimholes: Singapore’s Perspective

This article reports on exploring possible geothermal energy sources for Singapore. Here the authors explore two borehole drilling locations for possible optimal locations and run tests on samples including thermal conductivity Thermal conductivity is very important for the geothermal energy as higher rock thermal conductivity can be useful for this application. Figure 3 shows the borehole locations; Figure 4 shows the test set up using the C-Therm Modified Transient Plane Source sensor (MTPS) Figure 9 plots the measured thermal conductivity using the MTPS versus depth of the two borehole sites. Results show a uniform thermal conductivity with depth. Table 10 summarizes the results showing the two locations have pretty much identical thermal conductivity.
