Use of Thermomechanical Analysis (TMA) in Sintering Simulation of Ceramics

The sintering process of ceramics or metal injection molding (MIM) can be divided into the debinding and the sintering processes. Conventionally, TG-DTA (STA) is used to investigate the debinding temperature condition and the amount of added binders in the binder removal process, and TMA is used to investigate the sintering temperature condition and shrinkage rate in the sintering process. These thermal analysis results will be used as a guideline when deciding the size of the compact before firing, the firing temperature, and the firing time.
