Research Poster: Thermal Conductivity Characterization of Transformer Liquids

The thermal conductivity of three commercial grade transformer liquids of different composition (isoparaffinic and naphthenic) were investigated. The measured thermal conductivity values show variations attributed to the inherent chemical composition/molecular structure of the materials studied. The isoparaffinic transformer liquid has improved thermal conductivity compared to the naphthenic oils.
