Detection of Micro-Bubbles
Advanced resin materials are used on submarines to reduce sound, acoustic signatures and vibration. In the manufacturing of the material, air can become entrapped causing the formation of micro-bubbles that can be detected by sonar systems. Therefore it is critical that the resin coatings on submarines be tested to ensure their dampening qualities have not been compromised in the manufacturing process.
