Why Carbon Nanotubes rule!

As fillers go, it is with good reason why carbon nanotubes have become so popular as a means of improving the thermal conductivity polymer composites.  Steel is cheap but has a relatively low thermal conductivity between 14 and 16 W/mK.  Aluminum is much higher around 220 W/mK.  Copper is even better around 400 W/mK.  Diamond has an impressive thermal conductivity of approximately 2000 W/mK.  But none are close to the thermal conductivity of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with a thermal conductivity of over 3,000 W/mK!
